John Edward Sheets , age 90 of Grafton, WV, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at the home of Donna and Lonnie Mayle. He was born April 29, 1925 in Grafton, WV , the son of late Roy H. Sheets and Edna E. Sheets.

He is survived by one half brother Roy H. Sheets of Vacaville, Cal., several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 ½ years Frances G. Sheet who passed away February 16, 2012.

Having served his country during WW II from 1943-1946, on the USS Bristor 327. Before and after the war, John worked at several different jobs, including the Carr China Factory in Grafton until its closing.
John and Frances moved to Virginia where the spent they next 35 years. While in Virginia, he worked and retired from the Federal Prison in Richmond with 25 years service and 10 years with the ABC Store in Richmond and moved back to Grafton in 1990.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Lillian Murray, Mildred Boyce, Rosemary Bordenski, Dorothy ”Pauline” Moats: one half sister: Susan Saltis: three brothers: Roy H. “Junior” Sheets: Richard Sheets and Thomas Sheets.

John was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church of Grafton. He was also a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081 of Grafton, Bridgeport American Legion Post #68. John enjoyed singing and playing his Martin guitar.

Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2015 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Donald G. ford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 11:00a.m. with Rev Jonathan Minear officiating. Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park in Grafton . with Military Graveside services accorded by Taylor County Honor Guard
