Helen Brown  Edwards (Brown)
Helen Brown Edwards, age 96 of Rose Street, Grafton, WV passed away Sunday,
December 7, 2014 at the Rosewood Healthcare Center.
She was born September 21, 1918 in Taylor County the daughter of the late Clyde Walter and Mary Virginia (Mahaffey) Brown.

Her husband was the late Forest Edwards, Sr. who preceded her in death June 13, 1994.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Pauline Brown; one nephew, Robert S. Brown; one great-nephew, Dakota Brown; two step-daughters, Doris Lundy of Cornelius, NC and Carolyn Bolyard and husband, Edward of Grafton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Thomas Brown and Walter S. Brown; one nephew William T. Brown; three step-sons, Forest Edwards, Jr., Glen L. Edwards, and Jack L. Edwards. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She retired in 1984 having taught in the Taylor County Schools for 43 years. Helen graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1935 and from Fairmont State College. She also attended West Virginia Wesleyan and did graduate work at West Virginia University.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church; was a former Girl Scout Leader; was a member and past president of the Delta Chapter Alpha Delta Kappa; a member of Naomi Chapter #12 Order of the Eastern Star of Grafton; member of the Rebecah Lodge #64 of Fairmont; and a life member of the State Association of Retired School Employees.
Mrs. Edwards and Naomi Boston served as Co-Marshalls of the Memorial Day Parade in 1985 where she had participated in the parade 31 years with students.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Wednesday, December 10th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randall Murphy officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
