Mary Belle (Richards) Smith, age 75 of Claude Road, Thornton, WV passed away Monday,
September 25, 2017 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born May 14, 1942 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Phaville Emerson Richards and Mary Rose (Richards) Richards Squires.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Roy Clarence Smith, Jr. of Thornton; five sons, David Allen Smith of Thornton, Donald Lynn Smith of Kasson, WV, Charles Bruce Smith and wife Carol, of Manassas, VA, Clarence Eugene Smith and wife Emily of Talbot, WV, Ronald Glenn Smith and wife Kathie of Philippi, WV; five grandchildren, Tylynn, Nathan, Cody and Joshua Smith, and Trisha Cardwell; two great-grandsons, Brandon Cardwell and Devon Mock; one great-granddaughter, Brittney Cardwell; one sister, Margaret Ann Roy of Grafton, WV; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1962. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister to her family and she enjoyed reading, making quilts, and cross-stitching. She was a member of the Barbour County CEO’s and a member of the Mt. Morris United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday,
September 28th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with
Rev. Gina Stewart officiating.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Morris Cemetery in Barbour County.
