Robert E. Moore of Eby Road, Thornton, WV age 89, passed away at the Grafton City Hospital, Friday, June 9, 2017.

Robert was born December 12, 1927 in Arden, WV , the son of James Dowden Moore and Lena Grace (Spring) Moore.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Wilda Lee “ Billie” (Bolyard) Moore; one daughter; LuAnn Moore and husband John D. Quaranta of Morgantown, WV, two sons, Rodney A Moore of Morgantown, Randall E. Moore and wife Michele Moore of Philippi, WV: one sister Betty Runner of Thornton, WV, is also survived by one niece; Sherri Moore Friend, Thornton, WV and one nephew; Kevin Runner, Grafton WV.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, William Donald (Bill) Moore and sister in law Carrie Francis (Freeze) Moore, one sister: Deloris McIntyre and brother in law (James “Mac” McIntyre.

Robert served in the U.S. Army from June 1946 to Oct 1947 as part of the Army of Occupation of Japan. He graduated with the GHS Class of 1945.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, and the Taylor Co Post #12 American Legion. Robert was an avid trout fisherman. He retired with 45 years service as an electrician with CSX Railroad in Grafton.

Family will receive friends Monday, June 12, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton.
Robert will lie in state at the Mt. Pleasant Church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 with Rev. Judy Flynn officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery . Military Graveside services will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the WV Army National Guard of Kingwood, WV. In Lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association , 3072 Eby Road, Thornton, WV 26440, or The Taylor County Humane Society, P.O. Box 4045, Grafton, WV 26354.
