Margaret Elane "Elane"  Bennett
Margaret “Elane” Bennett, age 78, of Marion Street, Clarksburg, WV passed away Wednesay, May 25, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on November 27, 1927 in Pruntytown, WV the youngest daughter of the late Porter Lane Maxwell and Mary Margaret (Hyett) Maxwell.

She is survived by three daughters, Denise Elane (Edwin) Propst, Jr. of Clarksburg, WV, Deborah Ann (Erica) Bennett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Darlene Rosalie Hershman also of Clarksburg; five grandchildren, David William (Rachael) Propst, of Alexandria, VA, Michelle Elane Propst of Westover, WV, Jennifer Anne (Tyler) Spear of Bridgeport, WV, Kimberly Dawn Hershman of Belington, WV, Kelsey Ann Hershman, of Clarksburg, WV, and Matthew Mayne of Naperville, IL; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden Lee Owens and Jazlyn Rose Shanabarger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin “Jack” Bennett who passed away on April 15, 1995 and one sister, Mary Rosalie Maxwell.

Elane attended school in Taylor County and graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1955. She then graduated from the Martinsburg Beauty School in Martinsburg and worked at Ideal Beauty Salon in Grafton.

She was elected and served Taylor County for 38 years as the Clerk of the 19th Judicial Court, retiring in 2005.

She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Memorial City Post 3081 and served as Auxiliary President, State President, and National Council Member.

Elane was a former member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church and Pruntytown United Methodist Church.

In keeping with Elane’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. A private memorial service and interment will be held at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
