Robert A. Sollberger, age 86, former native of Kent, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He was the beloved husband and dance partner of the late Claudia M. (Williams) Sollberger of Grafton, WV.,

Robert was one of four children of the late Roy and Violet (Swager) Sollberger also of Kent, Ohio

A proud veteran, he served his country with the 28th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He moved to Mars, Pa. where he was a local business owner and town councilman. He retired from the Bell Telephone Company in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1987 after 37 years of employment to pursue his love of adventure and travel with his wife of 54 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee Hamel and her husband David of Amesbury, his two grandchildren, Stephanie and Samantha, his sisters, Roberta and Jean along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Allen D. Sollberger and his brother Jon Sollberger.

Visiting hours are being held at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913 on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 5:00-6:00 PM, followed immediately by a service. A graveside service will be held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Marques, WV, Saturday May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. where he will be joyfully re-united with his wife and son. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Our Neighbor’s Table of Amesbury, MA or the Maudsley Art Center in Newburyport, Ma.
