Obituary for William Michael "Mickey" Gabbert

William M. “Mickey” Gabbert, age 74 of Flag Run, Grafton, WV passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Rosewood Center in Grafton.
He was born October 16, 1941 in Grafton, a son of the late William Glenn and Marian Jane (Barkins) Gabbert Franer.

He is survived by three children, Steven S. Gabbert of Morgantown, Brant W. Gabbert and wife Sherry, of Beckley, WV, and Debra L. Gabbert and companion Casey Peters, of Ocean City, MD; his former wife, Betty Rae (Herr) Wegner; six grandchildren, Sierra Gabbert, Ashleigh Gabbert, Aidan Gabbert, Cody Rash, Angie Killen, and Kaitlyn Peters; two great-grandchildren, Ana and Keegan Killen; one sister, Sabina Sue Gabbert Moran of Ledyard, CT; one brother, Terry M. Gabbert and wife Mary, of Grafton; one half-brother, Randy Gabbert of MD; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Frederick Gabbert.

Mickey graduated from Webster High School with the Class of 1959. He served in the US Army from 1959-1962 and was a Boilermaker with the Union Local #667 of Winfield, WV.
He was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081, Taylor County Post 12 American Legion, and former member of the Grafton Elks Lodge 308.
A memorial service will be held at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Jaqueline L. Campbell officiating.
Inurnment will be at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the WV Army National Guard of Kingwood.
