Obituary for Charles Edwin "Whitey" Core

Charles E. “Whitey” Core, age 85 of Harmony Grove Road, Grafton, WV passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Glenville Center in Glenville, WV.

He was born September 10, 1930 in Wadestown, WV a son of the late Russell and Hazel (Rice) Core.

He is survived by one son, Charles E. “Chuck” Core of Grafton; two daughters, Ruth E. McDaniel Poling and Cynthia Ann Toothman both of Grafton; two grandchildren, Sarah Jo McDaniel and Justin Seth Toothman; three brothers, Jim Core of Burton, WV, Jake Core of Wadestown, and John Core of Florida; two sisters, Mary Stottlemyer and Patty Fury, both of PA; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann (Booth) Core; four siblings, twins, Max and Maxine Core, Ruth Core and Junior Core.

Whitey was a graduate of Clay Battelle with the Class of 1948 then served in the US Army from 1951-1953. He was a former car salesman for Kent Parson’s Ford, Toothman Ford Sales, and George Motors.

He was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081 of Grafton and past president and member of the Grafton Kiwanis Club.

He was Protestant by faith.

There will be no funeral home visitation and a private graveside service will be held at the WV National Cemetery with Pastor James E. Johnson officiating.
