Obituary for Leslie Darl "Junie" Kines Jr.

Leslie Darl "Junie"  Kines Jr.
Leslie Darl "Junie" Kines, Jr age 86 of Grafton, WV passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Grafton City Hospital.

He was born on March 15, 1928 near Webster in Taylor Co. The son of Leslie D. Kines, Sr and Prema (Isabelle) Casteel Kines.
Junie is survived by his wife of 63 years Frances (Hebb) Kines. Two sons Steve Kines and wife Deborah Ann of Grafton, Paul Kines and wife Debra Kay of Fairmont and a daughter Prema Kay and husband David J. Williams of Grafton. Grandchildren Brian Kines and companion Amy, Christopher Kines, Justin Williams and companion Samantha, Ryan Williams, Zachary Kines, David Canterbury and companion Robyn and D.J. Williams and wife Ida. Two Great Grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

One sister, Clara Jean Demoss of Grafton, Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews who shared many happy memories with their “Uncle Junie”. In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Kines Gott.

Junie enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduating from High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during the Koren War, Serving in Korea 1951-52 with the C Company 26th Signal Battalion in 8th Army.

He retired from the CSX Railroad as a car Inspector working in the Grafton Yard. He also was the Chief Cook on the wreck train and faithfully kept the Trackmen and Train Crew fed, on derailments over the years. He retired with 39 years service.

He belonged to several organizations- Shriners, Masons, VFW Post 3081 and the Taylor County Honor Guard having served in over 2000 commitments.

He was a faithful member , elder and choir member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Grafton.

He had a servant heart, serving in whatever capacity he could throughout his life.

He enjoyed his family above all and spending time camping and boating at Wildcat Hollow on Tygart Lake. Father Extraordinaire Junie also played in a Bluegrass Group called The Ridge Runners back in the early 50”s.

Friends and family may call the Donald G Ford Funeral Home on Monday, January 19th from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am with Rev Darrell Pierce officiating. Burial with follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard.
