Edwin Skaggs, age 76, of Sunrise Acres Circle Grafton, WV passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born August 29, 1937 in Grafton, WV a son of the late Edwin Lestor Skaggs and Elizabeth (Demko) Skaggs.

Edwin is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Nancy C. (Devers) Skaggs, three children; Michael Skaggs and wife Blanca of Grafton, WV; Bill Skaggs of Grafton, WV; and Elizabeth “Beth” Emery of Fairlawn, NJ; six grandchildren; Brian Emery and Fiancé Kaitlin Mahoney of Hawthorne, NJ; Kelly Jones and Husband Douglas of Charleston, WV; Drew Emery of Groton, CT; Alex Emery of Fairlawn, NJ; Kennedy Jane Skaggs of Grafton, WV; and Keith Skaggs of Grafton, WV, one great-grandson; Eamon Andrew Emery, also surviving are two sisters; Betty L. Shaffer and husband Al Shaffer of Spring Grove, PA; Loretta Carol Withers of Grafton, WV; one sister in-law, Shirley Orr and husband John of Clarksburg, WV, and one brother in-law, Jim McBee of Morgantown, WV.

In addition to his parents Edwin is preceded in death by on brother in-law, Richard “Dick” Withers.

Edwin served as a letter carrier for the Grafton Post Office for 34 years. He coached basketball at the St. Augustine’s Catholic School and also coached the Little League Baseball. Edwin also played softball with Russ Trickett and Black & White. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Grafton Bearcats, WVU Mountaineers, Chicago White Sox, and Cleveland Browns.
