Obituary for William M. "Bill" Sullivan Jr.

William M. “Bill” Sullivan Jr. age 84 of Blue Crest Drive Grafton, WV passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

He was born on February 15, 1930 in Stafford County, Virginia. He was the son of the late William Minor Sullivan Sr. and Lillian Frances (Norfolk) Sullivan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Elizabeth Jane “Dolly” (Weaver) Sullivan, four children; Lillian Frances Schanken of Baltimore, MD; Paula Sue Sullivan of Baltimore, MD; Edward Eugene Sullivan and wife Deborah Lee of Independence, WV; and Virginia Marie Miller and husband Paul of Baltimore, MD, four grandchildren; Lisa Marie Ripple, Matthew James Schanken, William Roy Sullivan, Chastity Miller; and nine great- grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Richard Edmonson Sullivan and wife Edna of Baltimore, MD, and several nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by one grandson, Edward Eugene Sullivan Jr., two sisters; Elva Butterworth and Patsy Lefkowitz, one brother George Lester Sullivan, and one son in-law Chip Schanken.

William was a Pipefitter for the W.R. Grace Company of Baltimore, MD, he was Methodist by faith, and served as an honorary member of the Majors Ship Reunion.


The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton, WV on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 4:00 -8:00 pm.

The family will also receive friends at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road Catonsville, MD. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at the Good Shepherd Cemetery.
