Obituary for Essie Marian Queen (Reel)


Esther “Essie” M. (Reel) Queen, age 61 of Willow Greene Drive, Bridgeport, WV passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.

She was born August 27, 1952 in Harlan, KY, a daughter of the late Dale and Mary (Riffle) Reel.

She is survived by two daughters, Natalie Chidester and husband Carl and Emily Bragg and husband, Jeremy all of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Noah, Jillian, and Miles Bragg; one brother, Joseph Reel and wife JoAnn of Evarts, KY; three sisters, Sara Harrison and husband Jack of Powell, OH, Priscilla Leonard and husband Robert of Columbus, OH, and Gail Morrison and husband Sam of Grafton; also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews, Jimmy Dale Arnett, Tom Arnett, Jessica Harrison, Pam Good, Marlaina Leonard, Julie Morrison, and Katelyn Morrison.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Amy Gambrel.

Essie worked as a nurse for over 20 years, primarily at the Rosewood Health Care Center in Grafton. She loved nature and animals, was a devout Christian, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grafton.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, March 13th from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Bragg officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
