Obituary for William J. "Bill" Simpson
William Junior “Bill” Simpson, 91, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Fairmont Health and Rehab Center in Fairmont, WV. He was born in Baltimore, MD on September 28, 1930, a son of the late James Oliver and Gerty (Minear) Simpson.
In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Bill is survived by one brother, George Simpson and wife Ruby of Grafton; two sisters: Ruby Bolyard of Fellowsville, and Margaret Gibson of OH. He is also survived by his nephew and caretaker Timothy L. Simpson and wife Leslie of Grafton whom he made his home with, as well as several other nieces and nephews throughout West Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan.
Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and later worked in the coal mines. He loved to hunt, fish, and especially hunt ginseng.
Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10am with Pastor Ray Frankhouser presiding.
