Robert Carl Maddix, Sr. Lake Como (South Belmar), NJ and Meadland, WV
Robert Carl Maddix, Sr., age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 peacefully at his home in Lake Como surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Brownton, West Virginia, Robert has resided in Lake Como for the last 61 years. After his retirement in 1999 he split his time between Lake Como and Meadland, WV fulfilling his dream of returning “home”.
Before moving to New Jersey, Bob owned and operated a trucking company serving the coal industry in Brownton, WV. Once in New Jersey, Bob was a founding partner of Midcoast Mechanical, Inc. where he worked as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Locals 331 and 9 for 61 years.
Bob was a proud Army veteran as part of Company C, 4th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division serving in the United States and Germany.
Even in retirement he was happiest when working. If you couldn’t find him building something, then he was probably under the hood of one of his antique cars.
Robert was a communicant of St. Catharine's/St. Margaret's Parish in Spring Lake.
In 1956 Bob married the love of his life, Agnes Maddix, nee Coltelli. As a couple they were blessed to celebrate their 65th anniversary on August 26, 2021.
In addition to his wife Agnes Maddix, he is survived by his loving children, Robert C. Maddix, Jr. and wife Marleen; Cynthia A. Wise and husband James Wise; his cherished grandchildren, Alex, Brianna and Zach Wise; his sister, Julia Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Maddix; his brothers, Steve, John, George and Stanley Maddix; his sisters, Helen Wolfe, Anna Vuchovich and Mary Alice Verney.
