Obituary for Norman Davis

Norman Davis, 76, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at home. He was born in Clarksburg on November 12, 1946, a son of the late Leroy and Madeline (Richards) Davis.

In addition to his parents Norman was preceded in death by one brother, Ottie Davis; and his long-time companion and fiancé, Rose Taylor.

Norman is survived by two sons: Matthew R. Davis and wife Tiffany of Salem, and Michael R. Davis of Clarksburg; one grandson, Ryan M. Davis of Salem; as well as many extended family from Rose, whom he had grown close to over the years.

Norman was a graduate of South Harrison High School and then served his country honorably in the United States Army Reserves, and was very proud of his service to his country. He worked many years at Continental Can and then Brockway Glass. He later worked as a certified nursing assistant at several locations including Clarksburg Nursing and Rehab, Wishing Well and Grafton City Hospital. Norman enjoyed getting “dressed up” and going to church. He was saved at West Milford Baptist Church by Pastor Webster on September 30, 1964, and was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton. He enjoyed going to the beach, liked going dancing at the Sage Brush, working outside in his yard, and spending time with his German Shepherd “Tex.” Norman was also an avid NASCAR fan, and especially liked Dale Earnhardt. He also liked watching his tv shows like Lets Make a Deal, and watching sports, especially Pitt and WVU. Norman never met a stranger and had a big heart that always cared for others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10am with Pastor Roger Fleming presiding.
