Obituary for Lewis W. "Buddy" Haines

Lewis Wesley “Buddy” Haines Jr., 66, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born in Pennsylvania on November 22, 1955, a son of the late Lewis Haines Sr. and Mary Lou (Batykefer) Morrell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Brenda G. (Farance) Haines on February 2, 2010.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Haines was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Mark Haines.

Mr. Haines is survived by his two daughters: Brandy L. Saltis and husband Tim of Bridgeport, and Brooke L. Davis and husband Ian of Grafton; seven grandchildren: Trenton, Tanner, Kaleigh, Trey, John “J.T.,” Jake, and Hunter; two sisters: Donna Mayfield and husband James of Grafton, and Judith “Judy” Martin and husband Michael of Clarksburg. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Buddy, was a graduate of Grafton High School Class of 1973 and attended Fairmont State College. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy, something he was very proud of. Buddy helped build the Clarksburg Water Board plant and worked there for some time. He was the owner and operator of H&S Controls providing electrical and plumbing services for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton and very much enjoyed attending with his church family. In his free time he liked to golf and was a member of the Tygart Lake Country Club. He always like helping others and volunteered his time with New Horizons where he served as the President and was working on a program to help the disabled get back into the workforce. He was also a proud supporter of youth sports and their events. Above all Buddy loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11am with Pastor Todd Jarman presiding.
