Obituary for Leonard K. Ross

Leonard Keith Ross, 84, of Flemington ,WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at home. He was born at Bristol, WV, on August 9, 1939, a son of the late Wilson and Alfreda (Norris) Ross.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty Ann Ross whom he married on August 24, 1960; one daughter, Patricia Lynn Ross of Bridgeport, two brothers: Jimmie Dale “Jim” Ross and wife Judy of Flemington, and Gary Lant Ross and wife Minna of Wendel; a special nephew, Robert Keith Knight of Flemington; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews both in state and out of state.

In addition to his parents Leonard was preceded in death by nephews: Jimmie Dale Ross II, Jeffrey Hall Ross, Ervin Alva “Dusty” Knight, and Mark Anthony Knight and wife Tammy.

Leonard was a graduate of Flemington High School Class of 1958 and a member of the Flemington Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator with Huffman Corporation where he retired. Fall was his favorite time of year, going “leaf peeping,” being outdoors camping or enjoying the wildlife. He liked to hunt and fish, take day trips around the state to fairs and festivals, and also work in his garden. Leonard was a hard worker not only at work, but at his home where he especially took great pride in his lawn looking its best. His nature was a quiet man, but he enjoyed people. He enjoyed spending time with family, holiday gatherings, talking with neighbors and friends who would stop by, and going out to restaurants with his family and loved ones.

Leonard was the “glue” of his family, and a beloved husband and father. One of his favorite traditions was going Christmas shopping with his daughter Patricia, something he started when she was very young and they both looked forward to every year. Most of all he loved his family and will forever be in their hearts.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald G.
