Obituary for Kenneth Charles "Mel" Mehlinger
Kenneth Charles “Mel” Mehlinger, age 92 of Knottsville Road, Grafton, WV passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at his home.
He was born January 28, 1929 in Tiffin, OH the son of the late Joseph Charles and Audra (Harman) Mehlinger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Pauline “Polly” (Davis) Mehlinger who passed away August 8, 2014.
Kenneth is survived by two sons, Gregory C. Mehlinger and Curtis A. Mehlinger, both of Grafton; two nieces, Julie McDargh Legler and husband, Rob of Bethel Park, PA and Susan McDargh Deiseroth and husband, Robert of Hickory, PA.
Kenneth graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1947 then attended WVU for a year. He joined the Airforce in 1950 and retired after 20 years as a Senior Master Sergeant. After his retirement, he and his family moved to Florida where he worked in hotel/motel management for 20 years.
He was a member of the Stonewall Jackson Coin Club.
Mel was a very easy going and giving person and he will be very missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday following the viewing at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bert Coffman officiating.
Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the Airforce Honor Guard.
