Obituary for John Howard Starkey
John H. Starkey Sr., age 80 of School Street, Grafton, WV passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his residence.
He was born March 16, 1939 in Clarksburg, WV a son of the late Cecil and Jean (Lafferty) Starkey.
He is survived by his domestic partner, Donna R. (Lehew) Goodnow, of Grafton; son, John H. Starkey, Jr. and wife Lydia of Newport, NC ; two “step children” as they were to John, Catherine J. Alderman of Flemington and Leah M. Denken Berger and husband David also of Flemington; six “step grandchildren”; eight “step great-grandchildren”; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Okey and Ray Starkey.
John was self-employed as a carpet installer for over 60 years.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to music and woodworking.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
