Obituary for John R. Mick

John Robert Mick, 78, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on March 19, 1944 at Weston, WV, a son of the late Ralph C and Mary H. (Harper) Mick.

In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by six siblings: William R. Mick, Reverend C. Franklin Mick, Lucile M. Ward, Barbara Jean Anderson, Susan F. Frey, and Judith E. Skeen; and five nieces and nephews: John C. Ward II, Robert F. Mick, C. Kenneth Isner, Kathleen Rose, and Anita F. Nazelrod.

Mr. Mick is survived by one sister, Pamela L. Mick of Grafton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

John was a graduate of Grafton High School, worked at the A&P Supermarket for over 20 years, then as a Deputy with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, and eventually retired as a correctional officer with the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. He also served as an EMT with the Taylor County Emergency Squad for several years. John was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church and also a member of the Knights of Pythias. In his free time he greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11am with Rev. Judith Flynn presiding. Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
