Obituary for George Bernard "Bernie" Nestor

George B. “Bernie” Nestor, age 81 of Fairmont, WV passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born June 13, 1937 in Grafton, WV a son of the late David O. Nestor and Ora V. (Horton) Nestor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Mary Lee (Phillips) Nestor; one daughter, Barbara Watkins of Grafton; two sons, Dennis B. Nestor (Shelley) of Spring Branch, TX and Bernie J. Nestor (Martha) of Frederick, MD; one step-son, Chrisopher M. Arbogast of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Patrick Gregory (Brittney), Daniel Nestor (Krystal), Joshua Nestor (Becca), Joseph Nestor, and Mariah Arabogast ; six great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1955. He then entered the Military Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 17 years of service and three years of service in the US Navy.
Bernie was the former owner of “Hoagie Haven” in Grafton for 10 years.

He was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081 and the Taylor County Post 12 American Legion.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Sunday, March 31st from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Jefferies officiating.
Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton.
Military graveside service will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard.
