Obituary for Freda M. Norris

Freda Mae Norris, 69, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport after a lengthy illness. She was born in Barbour County on April 20, 1953, a daughter of the late Sweden Hess and Elsie Wiladene (Poe) Auvil.

In addition to her parents Freda was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Charles Norris on June 14, 2013; and one sister, Sue Westfall.

Ms. Norris is survived by her two sons: John Wesley Norris (Beverly) of Grafton, and Charles Lewis “Louie” Norris (companion Jillian K. Clark) of Clarksburg, WV; four siblings: Lois Adams of Nestorville, Wilford Auvil of Akron, OH, Eugene Auvil (Janet) of Surf City, NC, and Dorothy Shahan (Boyd) of Belington; three grandchildren: Dakota Scott Norris of Clarksburg, Steven Louis Carder Jr. (MaKenze) of Whitehall, and David Frederick Carder of Parsons; and four extended grandchildren: Skyler Jade Clark, Eliza Rose Clark, Gabrielle Isabelle Ross, and Michael Thomas Clark. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Freda was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School, worked in housekeeping at Rosewood Center in Grafton and then as a CNA doing in home healthcare. She had a strong work ethic and was a hard worker; always taking care of her lawn and home as well as caring for her family. Freda was a dedicated member of the Message of Freedom Church in Grafton and enjoyed her church family.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home 950 George Washington Hwy Grafton, WV, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11am. Interment will follow at the Bluemont Cemetery.
