Obituary for Floren Shafer Warder
Floren Shafer Warder, age 89 of Jeffrey Ave., Grafton, WV passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born August 1, 1930 in Grafton, WV a son of the late Charles Edward and Mary Catherine “Kitty” (Smith) Warder.
He is survived by two children, C. Diane Warder and John Douglas Warder and wife Angela both of Grafton; three grandchildren, Geoffrey Warder and wife Kimberly of Chesapeake, VA, Benjamin Warder of Grafton and David Warder and wife Jessalyn of Frostburg, MD; four great-grandchildren, Shavon, Espe, Toa, and Ari Warder; one brother-in-law, Bill McProuty and wife, “Tippy” of Grafton and one sister-in-law, Evelyn (McProuty) Freeman, of Portland, OR; also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great- nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Constance Diane “Connie” (McProuty) Warder who passed away March 2, 2003; one daughter, Joyce Ann Kisner and son-in-law, Stephen; one sister, Ida Belle (Warder) Woodford; and five brothers, Oran D. Warder, Paul S. Warder, Thomas Warder, C. Hugh Warder, and Joseph A. Warder.
Floren graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1948 and he worked for CSX for 42 years as an electrician Foreman.
He was a professing Christian and a life-long member of the E.U.B./ Trinity United Methodist Church of Grafton.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and hunting. But most of all he truly, deeply loved his family.
He was a 50 year member Grafton Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A.M;, Copestone Chapter No. 12, Royal Arch Masons; DeMolay Commandery No. 11, Knights Templar; Scottish Rite Mason, 32nd Degree, Valley of Clarksburg for 49 years; Osiris Shriners, Wheeling, WV; and Taylor County Shrine Club. Floren was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter, No. 12, Grafton.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Monday, January 27th from 2:00-8:00p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Flynn and Pastor James E. Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
