Obituary for Charles Richard "Rick" Kirkpatrick

Charles Richard “Rick” Kirkpatrick, age 65 of Maple Avenue, Grafton, WV passed away Monday,
August 5, 2019 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born December 8, 1953 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO a son of Joyce Ann (Cole) Kirkpatrick of Grafton and the late Charles Norman Kirkpatrick.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Kirkpatrick; one daughter, Kristy Seargeant and husband Jamie, of Grafton; one granddaughter, Kurrie Ross and husband Brady, of Flemington; one sister, Diane Drainer and husband Chuck, of Leesburg, FL; one brother, Tom Kirkpatrick and wife Beverly, of Grafton; his best friend and mother-in-law, Barbara Stevens of Grafton; two brothers-in-law, Mike Stevens and companion Debbie O’Neal and Donnie Stevens and wife Jackie, all of Grafton.

He graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1971 then attended Fairmont State and Akron University. He joined the US Marines where he spent 6 years stationed in Jacksonville, NC. Then worked as a laborer at Rexhide Rubber in Grafton for 25 years.

Rick enjoyed his family and friends, especially his granddaughter Kurrie and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and the WVU Basketball team.
He was a player on the 1965 Pop Warner football team then coached the 1984 Pop Warner championship team. He also coached the senior division Little League Baseball team for several years.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday,
August 8, 2019 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Cartwright officiating.
Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the Marine Corp Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the First Baptist Church Food Ministry in memory of his name at 2034 Webster Pike, Grafton, WV.
