Obituary for Bonnie E. Austin

Bonnie Elaine Austin, 93, of Thornton, WV, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at her home. Bonnie spent 75 years on the family farm where she raised her children, helped milk cows, and grew her big gardens. She was the proud owner and operator of Fairview Farms Garden Center and loved raising her flowers and vegetables.

Bonnie enjoyed seeing and visiting with her customers and would talk with everyone who came to the farm. She enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables she grew, and also made many fun memories making applebutter in her big copper kettle.

Bonnie was born on December 6, 1928 in Morgantown, to John P. and Grace Foster, and was one of seven children. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Kathryn “Kitty” Barnes; two sons: Marvin “Marty” Austin and life partner Marie Goush, and Terry A. Austin and family; a sister Lovella Beel of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren: Troy Barnes (Julie) of Medina, OH, Bryan Barnes (Amy) of LaGrange, OH, Grace Trboyevich (Chris) of Thornton, Phillip Austin (Courtney) of Thornton, Adam Austin of Thornton, Amanda Goush and life partner Justin; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Tyson, Grizzly, Markiah, Jake, Luke, Michael, Andrew, and Rhylee, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Austin; one son, Danny Austin; and two sisters and two brothers: Jackie Langford, Flossy Blaney, John Foster II, and Carlton “Bobby” Foster.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Doctors Hess and Ward, UHC Hospice, and the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home for all their care and compassion.

Private services were held at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton, followed by interment at her family home, Fairview Farms, Austin Family Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends to be announced at a future date.
