Obituary for Roger Carl ""Butch"" Platter

Roger C. “Butch” Platter, age 74 of Beech Street, Grafton, WV passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his residence.
He was born September 4, 1942 in Grantsville, MD a son of the late Edward and Velma Pearl (Groves) Platter.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Platter and fiance’, David Farance; two grand children, Kayla N. Wilson of Grafton, Erica Dawn Platter and spouse Richard Minard of Grafton; two great grandchildren Kendelyn M. Platter, and Isaiah Minard both of Grafton; one brother, Edward “Sock” Platter of Aurora, WV; two sisters, Peggy Leasher of Grantsville, Md. and Carol Keller of Baltimore, Md; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, June (Austin) Platter; one daughter, Lisa Michelle Platter; and six brothers and sisters.

After graduating from high school, he served in the US Army from 1961-1964.
He was former owner of the Gas For Less Service Station in Grafton and
was a member of the Salvation Army of Grafton and Calvary Apostolic Church.
Butch enjoyed his family, gardening and dancing.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 4:00-8:00p.m. and from 10:00a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Lieutenant Bo Parsons officiating.
Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the Army National Guard of Kingwood.
