Obituary for William Edward "Eddie" Grimes

William Edward “Eddie” Grimes, age 75 of Linsey Street, Grafton, WV passed away suddenly Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Georgia Medical Center in
Augusta, GA.
He was born March 4, 1940 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Monford S. and Wilma M. (Fitzwater) Grimes.

Eddie is survived by one daughter, Sherri Lynn Grimes, of Longs, SC; one granddaughter, Victoria (Cathell) Wagner, of Myrtle Beach, SC; two great-grandchildren, Emmalynn Nicole Wagner and Grayson Scott Wagner, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one sister, Carolyn Donloun of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his companion of 30 years, Thelma Fazzini of Clarksburg, WV.

He served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1962 and was a union carpenter for Local 604 of Morgantown and Local 476 of Bridgeport. He was vice president of the “Save the Tygart Water Shed Association”; was involved with the “Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs” program; and he mowed and cleaned up the State Park Recreation Center below the dam.

He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Sherri, his granddaughter, and his two great-grandchildren. His passion was fishing with his buddies, Lawrence “Jim” Tingler, Randy Durrett, LeRoy Stanley, Jerry Lantz, Scott Gerkins, and Jeremy Haller.
Eddie attended Jewell City Church of Shinnston.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Wednesday, April 15th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bert Coffman officiating.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard and the Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard.
